Job Summary

The Registered Practical Nurse is a key member of our healthcare team at Simcoe County, providing high-quality nursing care to residents in our long-term care facilities. As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering patient-centered care, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personalized nursing care to residents, adhering to established standards and protocols.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of residents' physical and emotional needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring residents' responses and reporting any changes or concerns.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to identify and address resident needs, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Document resident information accurately and thoroughly, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment, promoting a culture of teamwork and open communication.
Requirements
  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in geriatric care or long-term care nursing.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare practices and procedures, with a focus on gerontology and long-term care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
