We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Neuromodulation Program at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care. As a key member of our team, you will provide nursing and mental health services to our patients, utilizing your expertise in psychiatric nursing and neuromodulation therapies.
Key Responsibilities- Treatment Planning and Implementation: Assess patient needs, develop and implement treatment strategies, and evaluate their effectiveness.
- ECT Administration Support: Provide assistance to physicians during Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) administration, ensuring a safe and efficient process.
- TMS Treatment Delivery: Deliver Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment to patients, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
- Nurse-Patient Relationships: Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients, promoting trust and open communication.
- Patient Observation and Reporting: Monitor patient conditions, identifying and reporting any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
- Staff Support and Development: Provide guidance and support to new staff members and students, ensuring a smooth transition into the role.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain the TMS machine and related supplies, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
- Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Certification: Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Advanced Life Support (ACLS) Certification: Valid ACLS certification, demonstrating expertise in emergency patient care procedures.
- IV and Phlebotomy Certifications: Valid IV and Phlebotomy certifications, ensuring proficiency in these essential skills.
- Psychiatric Nursing Knowledge: Strong understanding of psychiatric nursing principles and practices.
- Neuromodulation Therapies: Familiarity with neuromodulation therapies, including TMS and ECT.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical thinking skills, allowing for sound decision-making and problem-solving.
