Controller Position at CB Canada

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the accounting and clerical department at CB Canada. As a key member of our leadership team, the Controller will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyze accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the accounting operations, including the review of journal entries, accounts payable, and statutory reporting.
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and company policies and procedures.
  • Consolidate financial data from legal entities for financial reporting under ASPE standards.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including P& Ls by branch/SBU.
  • Work with operations to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control current processes that impact customer quality and internal operating efficiency.
  • Provide strategic analysis to drive improved decision-making.
  • Prepare and present financial information for annual reports.
  • Manage foreign exchange transactions.
  • Implement and manage internal controls related to financial policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide advice and guidance on all accounting matters, including financial systems, record-keeping, analysis, and reporting.
  • Manage priorities within the accounting group.
  • Coordinate the year-end audit and prepare audited financial statements.
Requirements:
  • University degree in Business/Accounting, with a professional accounting designation (such as CA, CPA, CGA, CMA).
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management. Cost accounting is an asset.
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange accounting.
  • Proficient communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Experience overseeing audits performed by external audit firms.
  • Financial analysis, budgeting, and some strategic planning experience.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Management and/or supervisory experience.
