Sous Chef Job Description

About the Role

This role is responsible for maintaining records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory, as well as supervising specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers.


Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
  • Supervise specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to cooking staff.
  • Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions.
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies as needed.
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food.

Requirements
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Permanent position with 30 to 40 hours per week.
  • Fluency in English is required.
