About the Role

MatrixHR is seeking a skilled Journeyman Welder to join their team for a long-term project in British Columbia. This exciting opportunity offers a chance to work on complex structural projects, utilizing expertise in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret blueprints and welding process specifications to ensure accurate execution.
  • Work in various environments, including construction, maintenance/repair, and new fabrication settings.
  • Perform SMAW and FCAW in all positions, adhering to industry standards.
  • Select appropriate weld filler materials for each project.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment efficiently.
  • Carefully operate air arc cutting equipment (carbon arc cutting).
  • Set up SMAW and FCAW equipment for welding tasks.
  • Lift, move, or position equipment at work sites safely.
  • Collaborate with the team in shipbuilding and repair, steel industry environments.
Physical Effort and Work Conditions:
  • Candidates must be comfortable working at heights from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms.
  • Stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and perform other physical demands as required.
  • Work in confined spaces and inclement weather conditions.
  • Support extended hours and overtime as business needs dictate.
  • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors, frequently handling and lifting parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally, lift and carry items exceeding 50 pounds.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational training and Welder Trade Certification (4 Positions SMAW, 4 Positions FCAW).
  • Full trade flexibility is required, ensuring adaptability in diverse project settings.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada to apply for this role.
  • A pre-employment Government Security Clearance/Background and Credit check will be completed.
  • Fully equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and a Fit Tested Respirator Mask.
