Fowler Construction Company Limited is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the daily activities of our Highway Maintenance Area Patrol team. This role will be responsible for directing, supervising, scheduling and managing operations for the Huntsville Contractor Directed Maintenance Contract (CDMC) with the Ministry of Transportation.

The estimated salary for this position is between $90,000 and $110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Directing and supervising a team of patrollers and operators to ensure efficient and safe operations;
  • Managing and planning schedules to meet project deadlines and requirements;
  • Maintaining positive relationships with office and technical staff, Ministry of Transportation personnel, emergency services personnel, and the traveling public;
  • Ensuring all patrollers and operators have the necessary certifications and licenses to perform their work and have received the required training;
  • Investigating incidents and taking necessary actions to ensure accurate reporting, repair and follow-through with the MTO;
  • Communicating with the Project Manager regarding CDMC patrol risks and concerns;
  • Overseeing sub-contractor work to ensure compliance with CDMC specifications and FCCL's Quality Management Plan and Environmental Management Plan;
  • Monitoring Health, Safety, and Environment of work sites;
  • Managing inventory and ordering materials for delivery to patrol yard;
  • Completing reports and documents for FCCL and the MTO.
Requirements/Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A high commitment to personal safety and the safety of others;
  • Previous experience in a managerial role;
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work cooperatively with a team;
  • A valid driver's license and DZ class license preferred;
  • Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Project, etc.);
  • Effective communication skills;
  • Strong organizational abilities with task prioritization and time management skills.
