Fowler Construction Company Limited is seeking an experienced Area Patrol Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of their Huntsville Contractor Directed Maintenance Contract (CDMC) with the Ministry of Transportation.

This is a salaried position, estimated to be in the range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct, manage, plan, and schedule patrollers and operators to ensure timely completion of tasks and effective use of resources.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with office and technical staff, Ministry of Transportation personnel, emergency services personnel, and the travelling public.
  • Ensure all patrollers and operators have the necessary certifications and licenses, such as AZ and DZ licenses, and have received required training to meet skill level requirements.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, onboarding, conditions of employment, performance management, and disciplinary processes for all staff under supervision.
  • Investigate incidents reported by patrollers and take necessary actions, ensuring accurate reporting and follow-through with the MTO.
  • Communicate CDMC patrol risks and concerns with the Project Manager.
  • Monitor sub-contractor work: manage and observe sub-contractors' performance, report any concerns or issues to the project manager to ensure compliance with CDMC specifications and FCCL's Quality Management Plan and Environmental Management Plan.
  • Maintain awareness of health, safety, and environmental practices at work sites.
  • Monitor weather information and support patrollers in decision-making processes.
  • Manage inventory and order materials for delivery to patrol yards.
  • Complete reports and documents for FCCL and the MTO.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A strong commitment to personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Previous managerial experience preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work cooperatively with a team.
  • A valid driver's license, with a DZ class license recommended and preferred.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Computer proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational abilities, with task prioritization and time management skills.
  • Availability for on-call duty and prompt response to emergencies.

Work Conditions:

  • Travel to various sites and locations will be required.
  • On-call duty may be necessary, requiring availability outside regular working hours.
  • The position involves both indoor and outdoor environments, in various weather conditions.
  • Weekends and evenings may be required to meet the demands of the position.
