Job Summary:

Laprairie is seeking a skilled Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join our team. As a Heavy-Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment and vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and diagnose faults in heavy equipment and vehicles using computerized testing equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty and automotive vehicles.
  • Adjust and replace faulty parts to ensure optimal performance.
  • Repair and service machine attachments and perform major repair work when necessary.
  • Drive to various job sites and consult with other Mechanics and Supervisors as needed.

Requirements:

  • Journeyman Trade Certification/Red Seal as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
  • Valid Alberta Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) license.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic or related role.
  • Class 5 driver's license.
  • Proven work experience with diesel or heavy equipment.
  • Understanding of computer testing technologies.
  • Ability to lift heavy machinery.
  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems, and construction equipment.
  • Ability to work after-hours if required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to supply own tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Member of Local 955 in good standing.
  • Local accommodations in Fort McMurray.
  • Willingness to work a 2 week on 2 week off shift.
