Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at First Transit Canada. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair work on vehicles, ensuring they are safe and reliable for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair work on vehicles, including tire maintenance, brake repairs, and suspension work.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance, safety maintenance inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair complex vehicle and equipment issues under direct supervision.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work completed, including parts and supplies used.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, adhering to First Transit standards and policies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Class B CDL with passenger endorsement required (or expected within 3 months of hire).
  • ASE Certification preferred; must participate in ASE testing program within 1 year.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and 0-1 years of automotive or diesel repair experience preferred.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a maintenance shop environment with dust, dirt, and grease conditions. They will be required to work under all weather conditions and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
