Job Summary

First Transit Canada is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair work on vehicles, ensuring they are safe and reliable for our customers. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repair work on vehicles, including tire maintenance, brake repairs, and suspension work

Assist with preventative maintenance, safety maintenance inspections, and annual maintenance inspections

Diagnose and repair complex vehicle issues under direct supervision

Maintain accurate records of maintenance work completed, including parts and supplies used

Ensure all work is performed with a commitment to safety and quality

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred

Class B CDL with passenger endorsement required; ASE certification preferred

0-1 years of automotive or diesel repair experience required; basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability

Valid driver's license and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions

Maintenance shop environment with dust, dirt, and grease conditions

Ability to work under all weather conditions and lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
