Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled 4th Class Power Engineer/Maintenance Worker to join our team at PHSA. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing trades duties approaching the journeyman level in various trades areas, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and welding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on air handling units, mixing boxes, VAVs, emergency power, and other related equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repair duties related to buildings and equipment, including mechanical and electrical repairs to plant systems.
  • Monitor and adjust physical plant and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
  • Perform water treatment analyses and add chemicals as required.
  • Install plumbing fixtures and systems, including taps, sinks, and toilets.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical repairs to equipment, including autoclaves, washers, sterilizers, and dryers.
  • Perform maintenance work, including stripping, cleaning, lubricating, repairing, replacing, and assembling castors, wheels, and brakes on equipment.
  • Construct items, including walls, doors, floors, ceilings, and windows.
  • Perform plastering, painting, and decorating, including selecting and applying various paint, plaster, and wall coverings.
  • Process individual purchase requests and establish and monitor preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment.
Requirements
  • Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of BC.
  • Two (2) years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
