Job Summary

The 4th Class Power Engineer/Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing trades duties approaching the journeyman level in various trades areas, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and welding. This role involves maintenance and repair duties related to buildings and equipment, as well as mechanical and electrical repairs to plant systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operates, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on air handling units, mixing boxes, VAVs, emergency power, and other related equipment.
  • Monitors and adjusts temperature control systems, pressure, and feed water levels.
  • Performs maintenance work by methods such as stripping, cleaning, lubricating, repairing, replacing, and assembling castors, wheels, and brakes on equipment.
  • Constructs items such as walls, doors, floors, ceilings, and windows by framing, applying finishing materials, and designing and constructing furniture.
  • Performs plastering, painting, and decorating by selecting and applying various paint, plaster, and wall coverings.
  • Processes individual purchase requests by meeting with area representatives, determining requirements, and preparing purchase orders.
  • Maintains a safe and tidy work environment by following security measures and reporting unsafe situations.

Requirements

  • Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of BC.
  • Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, deal with others effectively, and read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
