Clinical Nurse Specialist for Trauma Informed Care

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at PHSA, providing trauma informed care to clients with complex physical and mental health needs.
Job SummaryThe Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide direct health care services to clients, performing assessments, administering treatments, and monitoring progress. They will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery.
Main Responsibilities:- Provide trauma informed nursing care to clients with physical or mental health needs, including substance dependency and concurrent psychiatric disorders.
- Perform physical, substance use, and psychiatric assessments, collect specimens, refer clients to physicians, and administer prescribed treatments and medications.
- Triages Health Service Requests from clients, making appropriate treatment plans or referrals as needed.
- Observe, monitor, evaluate, and document client progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, and perform various healthcare interventions.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, clients, families, and community members to identify and resolve health issues, cultural and language barriers, ethical dilemmas, and coordination and integration of care.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Two years' recent experience providing trauma informed acute or community health nursing care/services to patients with a combination of physical, psychiatric, and/or concurrent substance abuse/misuse disorders.
- Occupational First Aid Level 2 certification (OFA Level 3 certification for positions at the Ford Mountain Correctional Centre).
