About Gaetan Riendeau Inc.

We are a leading retail business in the supermarket/grocery store industry, seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team in the produce department.

Job Summary

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for managing staff and assigning duties, determining merchandise and services to be sold, implementing price and credits policies, and locating, selecting, and procuring merchandise for resale. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Management: Manage a team of 5-10 employees, including grocery clerks and shelf stockers, and provide guidance and support to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Merchandise and Services: Determine the types of merchandise and services to be sold, and implement policies to ensure effective inventory management and customer satisfaction.
  • Operations: Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate daily operations, including budgeting and monitoring revenues and expenses.
  • Customer Service: Resolve customer complaints and issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Performance Reviews: Conduct regular performance reviews to ensure employees are meeting expectations and provide feedback for improvement.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a retail management role, or equivalent experience.
  • Language: Fluency in French.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and strong problem-solving skills.
