Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Tax Director to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for executing tax mandates that require technical expertise. Your duties will include:
- Participating in complex tax consulting mandates, conducting thorough research and providing sound interpretations
- Drafting transactional memoranda to implement tax reorganizations, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Staying up-to-date with new developments in tax matters, applying this knowledge to provide innovative solutions
- Supporting tax team members assigned to tax mandates, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication
- Responding to tax queries from departments within the organization, providing timely and accurate information
- Ensuring deadlines are met, maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency
You will be responsible for presenting follow-ups to the Senior Director responsible for the tax mandate, reviewing the tax mandate on a recurring basis, analyzing hours spent on tax files for billing purposes, and highlighting any significant discrepancies. Additionally, you will ensure good customer relationship management, identifying tax needs for potential and existing customers as required.
Required QualificationsEducation
- Graduate degree in taxation or a related field
Professional Experience
- A minimum of 5 years or more of relevant experience in taxation, ideally with a professional firm
Skills
- Knowledge of software (Word, Excel, etc.) and tax research tools (CCH Online, Taxfind, Taxnet Pro)
- Knowledge of tax return software (TaxPrep & DT Max)
- Fluency in French and English (an asset)
- Thorough knowledge of the Income Tax Act and the Quebec Taxation Act
