About the Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join Alberta Health Services as a Peer Support Worker.

The Overdose Prevention Site in Lethbridge provides harm reduction and supervised consumption services, supporting Albertans living with substance use challenges.

Job Description

As a Peer Support Worker, you will provide interventions and supports that complement the work of a multi-disciplinary outreach team.

You will offer hope to clients by sharing your story, providing mentorship and support, advocating for client needs, and promoting an integrated and resiliency-oriented healthcare experience.

Your role will also include delivering harm reduction supplies, clinical interventions, education, naloxone kit distribution, referrals to other health and social services, and working within the surrounding area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide peer support services to clients navigating life-impacting experiences
  • Offer mentorship and support to promote recovery and resilience
  • Advocate for client needs and preferences
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary outreach team to deliver comprehensive services
Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience working with diverse and marginalized populations, particularly the homeless
  • One year of experience working with individuals with addiction concerns
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting or human services field outside of healthcare
  • Knowledge of Indigenous language and culture
  • Post-secondary education applicable to the position
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
  • First Aid certification
  • SOME knowledge of Connect Care and/or training
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
