About the Role

Atlantic Wellness/Mieux-être Atlantique is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development and Communications to lead our fundraising and communications efforts. As a key member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, managing relationships with donors and stakeholders, and overseeing all aspects of our communications and marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fundraising and Communications Programs
    • Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to achieve our revenue goals, including annual and monthly giving, major gifts, and community giving
    • Manage and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives, including budgeting, logistics, and vendor management
    • Oversee the development of all communications and marketing materials, including digital platforms, donor communications, direct response, and marketing initiatives
  • Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management
    • Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with major donors, corporations, foundations, and other potential funding sources
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Board members, volunteers, and community leaders
    • Design and implement effective stewardship strategies to ensure ongoing engagement and recognition of donors
  • Partnership Development
    • Develop new partnerships and/or sponsorships to help fund Atlantic Wellness/Mieux-être Atlantique
    • Maintain and deepen existing relationships with our network of partners and sponsors
    • Research and prepare grant applications to government agencies, foundations, and other granting agencies
  • Data Management
    • Optimize, administer, and maintain our current donor CRM, including donor segmentation and stewardship
    • Produce reports on the progress of our activities and accomplishments
    Requirements
    • University degree or College Diploma, preferably with a community/philanthropic or business development specialization or equivalent experience
    • Minimum 5 years of previous experience in Development, Marketing, Communications or transferable community-based experiences, with a proven track record of fundraising and donor relations success in the non-profit sector
    • Demonstrated ability to strategically implement programs, manage competing priorities, and solicit strategy development
    • Strong interpersonal and communication/presentation skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
    • Excellent writing and verbal skills and experience in creating compelling direct proposals and marketing materials
    • Proficiency in required software, including Microsoft, Google drive, donor management CRM systems
    • Thorough knowledge of Canadian charity regulations and the responsibilities of a non-profit organization
    • Capital Campaign experience is considered a strong asset
    • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, as required for donor events or meetings
    • Driver's license and access to a vehicle
    • A current Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
