About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Healthcare Underwriter to join our team at HR à la carte. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for assessing and evaluating risks for new and existing customers, ensuring that our company's underwriting guidelines are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate risks for new and existing customers
  • Develop and maintain a profitable portfolio of desirable business through marketing, analysis, sales, service, and underwriting
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely underwriting decisions
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with markets, companies, and brokers
  • Perform quality control of rating, coding, and issuance output to ensure accuracy of work
  • Mentor and train junior underwriters and technical assistants
  • Manage book of business to maintain quality of business required by market segment strategy
  • Accurately document and maintain underwriting information in account management systems

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and/or CIP or FCIP designation or equivalent
  • 5+ years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience, preferably in the healthcare sector
  • Expertise and depth in policy wordings, forms, and applicable coverages
  • Superior relationship management skills, proven through established broker relationships
  • Demonstrated track record of generating new business premium
  • Strong organizational/administrative skills and highly detail-oriented
  • Excellent presentation skills, comfortable speaking in front of small and large groups
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member
  • Ability to deliver results even when working to meet tight deadlines
