As a key member of our team at HR à la carte Inc., you will play a vital role in assessing and evaluating risks for our clients in the healthcare sector. Reporting to the Team Lead, this position is responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of a profitable portfolio of desirable business through marketing, analysis, sales, service, and underwriting.
Key Responsibilities:- Underwriting and Risk Assessment: Produce and underwrite new and renewal business by assessing the risk, pricing, choosing the appropriate market/company, preparing final quotes, and sending them to brokers; consistently achieve budgeted financial results through execution of market segment strategies.
- Policy Administration: Produce policy changes and endorsements by underwriting, pricing, and issuing policies.
- Relationship Building: Establish and maintain professional working relationships with markets/companies and brokers through telephone conversations and one-to-one meetings.
- Account Administration: Overall administration of assigned accounts from submission to expiration.
- Collaboration and Quality Control: Collaborate and correspond verbally and in writing with internal support teams; perform quality control of rating, coding, and issuance output to ensure accuracy of work.
- Mentorship and Training: Mentor/train junior underwriters and technical assistants.
- Market Intelligence: Continuously manage book of business (maintain quality of business required by market segment strategy); maintain market intelligence, business insurance trends, and industry knowledge.
- Documentation and Compliance: Accountable for accurate underwriting documentation/information in account management systems and adherence to documentation standards.
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of commercial property & casualty underwriting experience, preferably in the healthcare sector (internal trainings available).
- Skills: Expertise and depth in policy wordings, forms, and applicable coverages; demonstrable proficiency in underwriting basic to moderately complex books of commercial property and casualty products.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational/administrative skills and highly detail-oriented; ability to deliver results even when working to meet tight deadlines; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; effective problem solver with initiative to be innovative and creative with developing new ideas and concepts.
