Grounds Maintenance Specialist

About the Role

The Grounds Maintenance position is an exciting opportunity to join the CMHC team at Granville Island. As a member of the Maintenance Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the island is well-maintained and kept in a high standard of repair, cleanliness, and sanitation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain facility fixtures, including sinks, taps, toilets, and window handles.
  • Perform landscaping, leaf blowing, and paving stone repair.
  • Conduct woodwork repair, boardwalk maintenance, and bench repair.
  • Clean gutters, clear drains, and perform some roof work.
  • Sweep, pressure wash, and remove waste as required.
  • Represent CMHC and Granville Island in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Provide information to customers and tenants as needed.

Requirements

  • Building maintenance experience.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Safety knowledge as per Workers Compensation Board regulations and the Canada Labour Code.
  • The ability to adapt to changes and show initiative when needed.
  • Awareness of hazards and ability to work in a marine environment.
  • Other cleaning and maintenance duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Scissor lift experience.
  • Fall protection experience.
  • A WHMIS certificate.
