Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) program that meets the organization's legislative and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement OH&S Program: Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive OH&S program that meets the organization's legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Provide Training and Education: Provide training and education to employees on OH&S policies and procedures.
  • Investigate Incidents: Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with stakeholders, including employees, management, and external partners, to ensure effective communication and implementation of OH&S policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from a recognized program plus five years recent related experience in a unionized environment and registration as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and certification that is acceptable to Fraser Health.
  • Competencies: Demonstrates the leadership practices of the Fraser Health Leadership Framework of Clear, Caring, and Courageous and creates the conditions for people to succeed.
  • Professional/Technical Capabilities: Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety principles and practices and working knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and legislation.
