We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Actuarial Pricing Specialist to join our team as Assistant Vice President, Pricing and Actuarial at Munich Re. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the pricing function and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Pricing and Actuarial Functions: Develop and implement pricing strategies aligned with organizational goals for a range of specialty products.
  • Conduct Analytical Research: Identify rates and pricing strategies through the usage of actuarial and statistical methods.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with underwriting, claims, and engineering to ensure technical expertise is fully leveraged in the development of and use in pricing models.
  • Provide Expert Knowledge: Share expertise in pricing methods and processes to evaluate and recommend potential solutions to profitability and production challenges.
  • Review and Forecast Performance: Analyze product performance and forecast future results to inform business decisions.
  • Lead Research and Analysis: Conduct actuarial research and analysis to identify solutions for lines of products.
  • Influence Business Partners: Influence business partners to direct product strategy and product offerings towards profitable outcomes.
  • Manage Projects: Manage and contribute to the timelines of pricing projects, including the work of additional contributors related to pricing, data analysis, systems, processes, project management, or others as applicable.
  • Communicate with Stakeholders: Create actuarial documents to support discussions with internal and external clients and all levels of management as required.
  • Develop and Mentor Team Members: Engage and build partnerships with peers and resource leads within Munich Re Group, to exchange ideas and information, and remain informed of current initiatives.
  • Provide Leadership and Guidance: Provide direction and contribute to the mentoring and development of Munich Re employees including in areas related to pricing and leadership.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Mathematics or related fields requiring modeling, programming or quantitative analysis or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 12+ years experience of actuarial or pricing analytic work in the insurance, reinsurance, financial, or consulting industries is required, with a proven ability to lead a product and influence positive outcomes.
  • Professional Designation: Professional actuarial designation is required.
  • Management Experience: 5+ years of management experience.
  • Actuarial Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of actuarial models, standard actuarial techniques, particularly around pricing in the personal and commercial lines markets.
  • Client and Market Dynamics: Understanding client and market dynamics, as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Reinsurance Knowledge: Knowledge of primary and non-traditional reinsurance/alternative markets.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite and actuarial packages in R.
  • Soft Skills: Attention to detail, effective time management skills, to include prioritizing and bringing about decisions, entrepreneurial, self-driving, proactive, and able to work in an environment of change.
