R&D Operations Coordinator Specialist

This exciting opportunity is for an R&D Operations Coordinator to join our team at Zymeworks in a full-time position.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented R&D Operations Coordinator to facilitate the procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment for the Early Research & Development (eR&D) Department. The successful candidate will work closely with staff, logistics, and procurement teams to ensure seamless operations and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Purchasing Support: Facilitate the procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment by generating Purchase Requests (PRs) in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Change Order Processing: Assist with the processing of change orders.
- System Updates: Update internal systems to reflect PR/PO submittals and change order status.
- Vendor Collaboration: Confer with staff, Logistics, and Procurement teams to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
- Delivery Coordination: Coordinate, follow up, and expedite delivery requirements with suppliers and transportation carriers to ensure delivery needs are met.
- Invoice Approval: Work with eR&D and Accounts Payable to approve invoices and follow up on discrepancies.
- Vendor Onboarding: Initiate new Vendors in the SAP system and facilitate resolution of onboarding issues between Vendors, Procurement, and other groups as necessary.
- Purchasing Process Ownership: Take ownership of purchasing process for eR&D department, creating/updating SOWs, and making process improvements where needed.
- Cross-Functional Teamwork: Fosters effective and collaborative working relationships with fellow employees, management, external partners, and vendors.
- Contract Management: Assist with Vendor Contract management process for the eR&D department.
- Liaison Services: Act as a liaison between eR&D, Procurement, Vendors, and other departments as necessary.
- Education: University degree or diploma in a science or business-related discipline.
- Experience: 1 to 2 years of working experience in biotech, pharmacy, or science-related fields is an asset.
- Skills: Previous experience with SAP and Ariba (or other ERP or purchasing software) is an asset. Basic knowledge of purchasing standards, policies, procedures, and strategies. Familiarity with science-based disciplines. Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional teams.

The estimated salary range for this role is $48,000 - $74,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location, and individual pay may vary depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and location.
