Position Overview:

The Royal Mental Health Centre is looking for a dedicated individual to take on the role of Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator. In this capacity, you will oversee the development and execution of therapeutic recreation initiatives aimed at supporting individuals dealing with mental health challenges and substance use issues. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you will create personalized recreation strategies and lead engaging activities that enhance the overall health and wellness of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement therapeutic recreation initiatives
  • Establish objectives and goals for recreation services
  • Develop tailored programs to meet the unique needs of clients
  • Oversee the management of recreational equipment
  • Work in partnership with both internal and external service providers
  • Facilitate quality assurance activities
  • Conduct assessments and prepare reports
  • Encourage client involvement in recreational activities
  • Organize community outings and events
  • Comply with safety regulations and policies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation or a related discipline
  • Experience with clients facing mental health and substance use challenges
  • Understanding of the impact of leisure on functioning
  • Proven ability to plan and conduct recreation therapy programs
  • Experience in clinical environments
  • Preferred membership with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario
  • RAI-MH certification required
  • Class F driver's license is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills in English

Salary Range: $45.45 to $54.10 per hour
