Senior Legal Counsel Opportunity at Scotiabank

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Corporate Secretary's Department in Canada. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the Bank's compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal services and advice on corporate governance related matters and specialized areas of law.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to develop and execute strategies for corporate governance.
  • Research and analyze complex legal issues, including securities, corporate, and corporate governance laws.
  • Prepare and review legal documents, including management proxy circulars and annual meeting materials.
  • Support the Bank's Board and committee meetings, including regulatory compliance and risk management.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a recognized law school with significant in-house or private practice experience.
  • Membership in the Law Society of one of the provinces of Canada.
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Professional, polished, and confident demeanor.
  • Ability to research and analyze complex legal issues with little or no precedent.
