About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at The Royal Mental Health Centre. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to our clients in a mental health setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centered nursing care that meets the standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario and aligns with patient treatment and rehabilitation needs.
  • Assess patients' needs and develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Establish and promote effective therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.
  • Promote a supportive working relationship and effective communication with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ensure compliance with College of Nurses of Ontario Professional Standards and policies and procedures of The Royal.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and stay up-to-date with the latest best practices in mental health nursing.
  • Monitor and document patient response to therapeutic interventions.
  • Administer medication safely and effectively, adhering to policy and standards.
  • Work in a manner that prioritizes staff and patient/client safety practices, policies, and procedures of The Royal.
  • Contribute to a work environment that is inclusive and respectful of all individuals, in line with The Royal's Anti-Racism, Harassment & Discrimination Free Workplace Policy.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is mandatory.
  • BScN is preferred, but not required.
  • CPMHN(c) is an asset.
  • Clear understanding of the Mental Health Act and relevant legislation.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in mental health nursing practice, as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.
  • Able to meet the Standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Ability to work on all units of the ROMHC.
  • Completion of CPI or equivalent.
  • CPR certification within the last 12 months.
  • WHMIS update in the preceding 12 months.
  • Fire update in the preceding 12 months.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Experience with electronic health records is an asset.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension, and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
