About the Opportunity

The Physiotherapy Support Specialist is an integral part of our patient care team, working closely with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to deliver safe and effective interventions. The role involves educating patients and their care partners on movement, occupation, and function, as well as maintaining treatment areas and ordering necessary supplies.

Job Description

This permanent, full-time position requires a high level of organization and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering activities and interventions assigned by therapists, promoting patient independence and mobility. They will also maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with established protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivery of assigned activities and interventions to patients with mobility limitations
  • Maintenance of treatment areas, including cleaning equipment and stocking supplies
  • Collaboration with the patient care team to promote patient independence and mobility
  • Accurate record-keeping and adherence to established protocols
Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from a recognized Community College Rehabilitation Assistant program OR Completion of a recognized combined Occupational Therapy (OTA) and Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) College programs required
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training or requirement to complete training within first three months of employment
  • Previous experience working in inpatient acute care an asset
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology an asset
  • Experience working with varied patient populations considered an asset
  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics required
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Compensation and Incentives

The hourly rate for this position is $22.84 - $25.95. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
