Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Educational Program Assistant to join our team at Bedford South School. As an Educational Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs, providing individualized care and assistance to ensure their success and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily support to students with special needs, including toileting, personal care, and use of assistive technology.
  • Assist with implementation and tracking of behavior targets, de-escalation strategies, and pro-social skills.
  • Support students with feeding, catheterization, and physiotherapy follow-up as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.

Requirements:

  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Medium lifting (up to 50 pounds).
  • Experience working with students with Down's Syndrome and Autism.
  • Related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Rate of Pay:

This is a 10-month position with a work schedule in accordance with the school year calendar. The starting annual salary for a 100% position is $35,817.70, including 4% vacation pay.

EPAs are paid every two weeks with the annual salary paid across 12 months (August 1st to July 31st) for working a 10-month school year.

Daily Hours of Work:

50% Position = 3.5 hours (includes one 15-minute paid break)

80% Position = 6.1 hours (includes 1/2 hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks)

100% Position = 7.5 hours (includes 1/2 hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks)
