Job Summary

The District Manager II is a key leadership role at Waste Management, responsible for managing the day-to-day collection operations of a single site or multiple sites. This position requires strong business acumen, leadership skills, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operations Management: Manage the district's day-to-day operations, ensuring safety, service, and savings.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and maintain performance and productivity metrics, as well as cost management processes.
  • Leadership: Direct reports include four (4) Route Managers (Front Line Supervisors) and two (2) Operations Specialists.
  • Financial Management: Responsible for P&L, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Employee Management: Oversees department personnel needs, including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees, as well as evaluating employee performance.
  • Strategic Planning: Formulates short-term and long-term goals and action plans in conjunction with the Senior District Manager and/or Director of Collection Operations.
  • Customer Relations: Interacts with local city, municipal, and county agencies to ensure customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, renew contracts, and negotiate new contracts.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's Degree (accredited), High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and two (2) years relevant work experience.
  • Experience: 4 years experience in a role with supervisory and/or P&L responsibility (in addition to education requirements).
  • Certifications: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Skills: Experience in operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial and human resource functions, and experience as a supervisor or manager.
Work Environment

This role is based in an office setting, with regular interactions with local government agencies and other stakeholders.
