Job Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists within Alberta Health Services, Fort McMurray area, with the Fort McMurray Recovery Centre. This facility offers 28-day bed-based addiction treatment services to both men and women, based on current evidence, research, and best practice.

Job Summary:

As a Client Care Assistant, you will work as a team member with all staff, assisting in the provision of supportive care to clients with addictions. Your primary duties include providing supportive care to clients, ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff, and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe and secure facility for clients
  • Facilitate client admissions and client/facility searches
  • Participate in medication assistance
  • Assist with minor laundry and housekeeping duties
  • Prepare bedrooms for client admissions
  • Provide-supportive, daily care to clients
  • Assist in preparing recreational and psycho-educational groups
  • Attend shift exchanges and relay information in an effective and timely manner
  • Review client files regularly
  • Communicate observations to the team verbally and in written form
  • Assist in the preparation of recreational, evening, and weekend programming as required
  • Participate in weekly clinical review meetings as required
Requirements:
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Suicide Prevention and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
  • Experience or knowledge in addiction and/or mental health

Alberta Health Services currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place, with an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
