About the Role

As a pathologist with Nova Scotia Health Authority, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment. You will be responsible for working a full scope of practice as a pathologist, performing autopsies and biopsies, and assessing pathology specimens and cytopathology specimens.

The successful candidate will undertake clinical responsibilities in surgical pathology services and will have the opportunity to oversee the clinical laboratories at Cape Breton Regional Hospital and in surrounding communities. The hospital provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and community-based programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work a full scope of practice as a pathologist.
  • Perform autopsies and biopsies.
  • Assess pathology specimens and cytopathology specimens.

The department handles over 15,000 surgical pathology specimens, 35-40 autopsies, and 16,000 cytopathology specimens annually. The successful candidate will join an established team of five medical professionals and will have the opportunity to develop their skills and expertise.
