Job Title: Health and Safety Specialist

Minto Group is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in promoting the highest standards of health and safety throughout our operations.

Job Summary:

The Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for implementing, evaluating, promoting, and continuously improving Minto's integrated health and safety program. This includes partnering with Minto Properties Inc. and Minto Apartment REIT to ensure compliance with the Corporate Health & Safety Program for all employees and properties in the Greater Toronto Area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and Minto safe work procedures.
  • Provide training and support to employees on health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and near-miss incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain health and safety records, including incident reports, training records, and compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure health and safety is integrated into all aspects of our operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing health and safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure Minto's health and safety program remains effective and compliant.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in health and safety, including program management and development.
  • Proven experience in conducting site visits, inspections, and investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
