Position Purpose:

This role is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the bakery through the implementation of effective preventive maintenance (PM) and equipment overhaul programs. The Reliability Engineer will be accountable for improving equipment performance and reducing technical downtime through proper PM and equipment maintenance. The position will lead efforts to ensure the reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Participate in regular maintenance and operation meetings to review PM and daily/weekly equipment maintenance needs.
  2. Continued improvement and execution of the PM program across the bakery based on equipment risk assessment, complying with all weekly/monthly and annual food safety and health and safety required work.
  3. Responsible for all annual overhauls, including equipment assessment, spare part ordering, and contractor and/or vendor engagement, leading to overall equipment performance improvement.
  4. Analyze daily reports through collected data history and apply to predictive maintenance through computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  5. Ensure a seamless process between PM, spare part availability, ordering, and inventory.
  6. Ensure the SAP PM system is fully functional, with accurate equipment ID, tasks, and frequency.
  7. Ensure the PM team fully utilizes the SAP system to ensure data and history are tracked and utilized for future reference.
  8. Assist with the training, coaching, and development of new maintenance employees, accelerating the learning and overall competency of the maintenance team.
  9. Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations.
  10. Oversee breakdown management system, including troubleshooting, reporting/analysis, and recurrence prevention.
  11. Establishing benchmark KPIs for PM completion, overhaul activities, and overall equipment performance, including PM auditing for completion and quality.
  12. Coordinate vendor PMs where necessary and perform random checks of vendor PMs to ensure reliability and quality of work.
  13. Develop and coordinate plans for reconstruction or installation of new equipment, machinery, or buildings.
  14. Establish strong relationships with all work groups and work with a collaborative style.
  15. Provide off-hour technical support to the maintenance team if required.
  16. Report any concerns and/or problems to the supervisor through daily written and verbal reporting.
  17. Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in the standard operating procedure (SOP) manual.
  18. Adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and health and safety rules as outlined in the employee handbook.
  19. Ensure GMPs and safe food handling practices are being followed.
Requirements:
  1. Must hold a valid license or more than 10 years of experience in the trade is required.
  2. Certificate of Qualifications, Ontario Industrial Mechanic Millwright.
  3. Comfortable with Solid Works and design engineering.
  4. Team builder who is self-managed and able to set priorities among conflicting priorities.
  5. Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  6. Excellent troubleshooting skills able to document findings and prepare root cause analyses.
