About the Role

Amazon Canada Fulfillment Services, ULC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission, you will play a vital role in promoting a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the workplace, ensuring compliance with Amazon's safety standards and applicable federal and state laws.
  • Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Create and execute comprehensive safety plans, including training and coaching employees on safe work practices and procedures.
  • Maintain Accurate Metrics: Collect and analyze data on workplace incidents, near-misses, and safety metrics to inform safety initiatives and improve overall safety performance.
  • Collaborate with Management: Work closely with site management and corporate teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Provide Expertise and Guidance: Offer technical guidance and support to employees, management, and contractors on safety-related matters.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of OSHA Regulations: Familiarity with 29 CFR 1910 and other relevant safety standards.
  • Experience in HSE: A minimum of 1 year of experience in an environmental, health, and safety-related field or a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Strong Communication and Analytical Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills.
  • Ability to Work Flexible Shifts: Willingness to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher: A degree in a safety-related field, such as occupational health and safety or environmental science.
  • Leadership and Team Management Experience: Experience leading and managing a team, analyzing accident data, and conducting job hazard and job safety analyses.
  • Emergency Response and First Aid Certification: Current certification in emergency response and first aid, including CPR.
  • Workers' Compensation Case Management Experience: Experience in workers' compensation case management.
