About the Role

Amazon Canada Fulfillment Services, ULC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission, you will play a vital role in promoting a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the workplace, ensuring compliance with Amazon's safety standards and applicable federal and state laws.
  • Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Create and execute comprehensive safety plans, including training and coaching employees on safe work practices and procedures.
  • Maintain Accurate Metrics: Collect and analyze data on workplace incidents, near-misses, and safety metrics to inform safety initiatives and improve overall safety performance.
  • Collaborate with Management: Work closely with site management and corporate teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Provide Training and Support: Deliver training sessions and provide guidance to employees on safety procedures, emergency response, and workers' compensation case management.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of OSHA Regulations: Familiarity with 29 CFR 1910 and ability to apply knowledge in a practical setting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel to maintain records and analyze data.
  • Confidentiality and Discretion: Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and personnel issues.
  • Education and Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in an EHS-related field, or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or 6 months of experience in a safety-related role within Amazon.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a safety-related field.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Strong ability to lead and manage teams, communicate effectively, and analyze data to inform safety decisions.
  • Emergency Response and First Aid: Experience in emergency response and current certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Workers' Compensation Case Management: Experience in managing workers' compensation cases and providing support to employees.
