Job Summary:

Georgian College is seeking a Part-time Professor to develop and deliver the 180-hours Occupation-specific Language Training (OSLT) course. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the course according to specific course curriculum guidelines, developing and delivering appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives, and incorporating a variety of teaching/learning strategies to meet student needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the OSLT course according to specific course curriculum guidelines
  • Develop and deliver appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching/learning strategies to meet student needs
  • Evaluate student progress/achievement
  • Provide information for program and student reporting and tracking
  • Participate in program and college activities as required
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment

Qualifications:

  • Successfully completed a three-year degree in a related field
  • TESL certification or in progress
  • 3-5 years' experience teaching English as a Second Language in a professional environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to life-long learning
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
  • Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
  • Teaching and Training Adults certification is an asset
