Adjunct Instructor – Specialized Language Training

Status: Part-time

The successful candidate will report to the Director of Indigenous Services and Access Programs and will be responsible for the creation and delivery of a comprehensive 180-hour course in Occupation-specific Language Training (OSLT). This initiative is supported by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada through Colleges Ontario, aimed at assisting newcomers to Canada in enhancing their workplace language skills. The course is typically scheduled for evening sessions.

Key Responsibilities:


• Facilitate the OSLT course in accordance with established curriculum guidelines.

• Design and implement relevant curriculum to achieve course objectives.

• Utilize diverse teaching and learning methodologies to accommodate various student needs.

• Assess and evaluate student progress and achievements.

• Provide necessary information for program and student tracking and reporting.

• Engage in program and college activities as required.

• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Required Qualifications:


• A completed three-year degree in a relevant field.

• TESL certification or in progress.

• 3-5 years of experience in teaching English as a Second Language in a professional setting.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• A commitment to continuous professional development.

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team and encourage similar collaboration among students.

• Experience in curriculum development, diverse delivery strategies, adult learning principles, academic advising, and student success strategies is an asset.

• Certification in Teaching and Training Adults is an asset.

Candidates must provide acceptable proof of education from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies as part of the selection process.
