Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Animal Care Specialist to join our team at Queen\u0027s University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality animal care and support to our research teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor animal behavior and provide enrichment activities to promote animal well-being
  • Prepare and serve food and water to animals, ensuring their nutritional needs are met
  • Clean and disinfect animal enclosures, equipment, and supplies to maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Record animal health and behavior, and report any concerns to supervisors
  • Maintain and order supplies, including food, bedding, and equipment
Requirements
  • College diploma or equivalent in a related field, such as animal science or veterinary technology
  • Experience working with laboratory animals, preferably in a research setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with research teams and other stakeholders
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods, with frequent bending and reaching
