Culinary Expert with Exceptional Kitchen Management Skills

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our team at Pepper On The Side. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for planning menus, estimating food requirements, and ensuring seamless kitchen operations.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will have a strong background in cooking and kitchen management, with experience in determining food portions, preparing meals, and maintaining inventory records. You will work closely with our team to ensure high-quality dishes are served promptly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine food portion sizes and costs, taking into account menu prices and customer preferences.
- Plan and prepare complete meals or individual dishes and foods, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including food supplies, equipment, and cleaning materials.
- Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Requisition food and kitchen supplies, coordinating deliveries and storage as needed.
- Organize buffets and banquets, working collaboratively with other team members to deliver exceptional service.
- Clean kitchen and work areas, adhering to established cleaning schedules and protocols.
- Manage kitchen operations, prioritizing tasks and deadlines to meet business needs.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- A secondary (high) school graduation certificate and relevant culinary training.
- A minimum of 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- A strong attention to detail, with ability to maintain high standards of quality and cleanliness.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with ability to collaborate with colleagues and manage conflict.
- Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
