Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Environmental Planner to join our team in Ontario. You will also coordinate and guide efforts to obtain and comply with environmental approvals/permits for projects from regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, implement, and manage all aspects of environmental assessments for municipal, provincial, and federal processes.
  • Coordinate and guide efforts to obtain and comply with environmental approvals/permits for projects from regulatory agencies.
  • Act as a project manager responsible for the development and management of scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Manage the development and implementation of consultation and engagement programs.
  • Independently coordinate and manage external subcontractors.
  • Effectively delegate tasks and activities to intermediate and junior staff and provide technical and supervisory guidance on assigned tasks.
  • Assist with and, as necessary, take a lead role in the development of proposals, qualification documents, and other business development-related activities.
  • Interact with clients and regulatory agencies and ministries to ensure that projects are successfully delivered within timelines.
  • Help to grow environmental planning/environmental assessment market share in strategic markets.
  • Leverage existing industry/client relationships and establish and foster new client relationships.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related degree.
  • A minimum of 15 years of related experience in managing/coordinating environmental assessments and securing construction permits/approvals, particularly within the transportation sector.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks, including for transportation projects.
  • Demonstrable experience working with MTO projects is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with environmental project management fundamentals, including cost control, scope management, and scheduling.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments at one time.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced engineering or environmental consulting environment.
  • Full or Provisional membership in a professional body is an asset (e.g., RPP, PMP, EP).
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
