Established in 2012, Citadel + Compagnie is a renowned dance organization embedded within the Regent Park community of downtown Toronto.
A key contributor to the thriving contemporary dance scene, C+C fosters creative excellence while prioritizing community engagement.
Led by Artistic Director Laurence Lemieux, the organization supports the artistic activities of its dance company, multiple presentation platforms, residency program, and outreach training program.
Citadel + Compagnie's mandate revolves around the creation, curation, and cultivation of original works of dance by innovative choreographers and cross-disciplinary collaborators.
The company dedicates itself to the preservation of important Canadian dance work through remount initiatives, bringing iconic repertoire to a new generation of dancers and audiences.
Dance Operations ExecutiveThis full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Dance Operations Executive. Reporting to the Artistic Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our organization.
Your responsibilities will include managing and coordinating a dynamic team consisting of 3 full-time and 4 part-time staff to ensure clear and timely communication of organizational plans and activities.
You will create and distribute contracts for all staff, artists, designers, and collaborators and liaise with appropriate unions when required.
Additionally, you will assist with touring and performance agreements for dance company engagements and co-production and presentation agreements for artists and partners engaged in Citadel LIVE programming.
You will also work with the Artistic Director and Production Manager to develop and communicate project information and schedules with artists, residency program participants, and project partners.
Furthermore, you will support the Box Office Coordinator with management of Citadel LIVE ticket sales and promotions.
You will keep detailed records of all organizational activities and accompanying statistics and accurate account of artist schedules and hours to support payroll.
Lastly, you will coordinate all Board activities, including scheduling regular meetings and enlisting specific member support for strategic initiatives and fundraising activities.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Audience Engagement Coordinator on the development of marketing and communications content plan, digital marketing strategy, cross-promotion, and special invitations to Citadel LIVE programming.
You will write, create, and distribute regular digital newsletter communications, create and disseminate press releases, and engage press and media for interviews, previews, and reviews of dance company activities.
Moreover, you will regularly update website content to reflect upcoming programming and news with the support of the Programs Coordinator and coordinate support of web developer when maintenance issues arise.
About YouWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual who possesses a passion for the arts and belief in the intrinsic value of artists and their pursuits.
Key qualifications include:
- 2+ years of experience as General Manager or related position in the dance, theatre, or performing arts milieu.
- Ability to both lead and work as a collaborative team member essential.
- Capacity to remain adaptive and resilient in response to the evolving needs of the organization and sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in development, particularly in the areas of corporate fundraising and foundation requests a major asset.
- Familiarity with the following tools and systems of benefit: Mailchimp, WordPress, Tickit, CanadaHelps, CADAC.
We offer a competitive salary range of $55,000 – $65,000 per year (commensurate with experience).
