About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Property Accountant to oversee full-cycle accounting and reporting for an assigned portfolio of income properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain lease and tenant information in Yardi, process annual rent schedules, and ensure accuracy of rent rolls.
  • Prepare operating cost reconciliations for tenants, respond to inquiries, and coordinate chargebacks.
  • Calculate monthly management fees, support property budget process, and prepare budget variance analysis reports.
  • Set up new properties, record fixed asset purchases, and set up amortization schedules.
  • Support asset valuation calculations and work closely with the property management and leasing teams.
Accounting Expertise
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring consistency with GAAP, including accruals, amortization, and bad debts.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, including reporting and assisting with collections.
  • Monitor the accounts payable cycle, approving invoices and purchase orders.
  • Ensure sources and uses of funds are appropriately monitored to meet working capital requirements.
  • Prepare requisitions for intercompany reimbursements and investor distributions.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support the treasury team with property financings, review employee expense reimbursement requests, and communicate key issues with management.
  • Proactively problem-solve and identify areas for improvement, assist with special projects, and perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA, CPA) and university-level education.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in property management and full-cycle real estate accounting.
  • High-level experience in computer skills, including Yardi, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Strong attention to detail, decision-making, communication, analytical skills, and ability to work proactively independently and collaboratively.
Compensation$95,000 - $105,000 per year
