Job Summary

Island Health is seeking a full-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to join our team in the Cowichan Valley. As a Geriatric Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing psychiatric services to patients aged 65 and older with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consulting services for outpatients, including psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, and direct and indirect care
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and provide medico-legal expertise as required
  • Participate in the Island Medical Program undergraduate and postgraduate teaching program
  • Contribute to research opportunities, including clinical trials for dementia
  • Participate in the Medical On Call Availability Program (MOCAP) with a crisis response team

Requirements

  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
  • Experience in geriatric psychiatry and leadership roles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
