We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Youth Advocacy Specialist to join our team at the Representative for Children and Youth's Office in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

Job Summary

This is a term position ending March 31, 2024. We offer a competitive salary of $85,000 per year, plus benefits.

About Our Office

The Representative for Children and Youth's Office is an independent office of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. Our mission is to ensure that legislation, policies, procedures, programs, and services provide ethical, equitable, and consistent outcomes for young people in Nunavut.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual advocacy services to children and youth in care;
  • Fulfill systemic advocacy responsibilities under the Representative for Children and Youth Act;
  • Conduct reviews of critical injuries and deaths;
  • Develop public awareness and education materials;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, child and youth care, education);
  • Experience working with children and youth in care;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
