About the Role:

We are currently seeking a skilled Asphalt Plant Operator to join our team at Colas Western Canada Inc.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt plant, utilizing button controls and computer-controlled blending systems to produce high-quality asphalt products.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt plant.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of different mix designs, aggregates, AC oils, and test results.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment and electrical components of the plant, prioritizing worker safety, environmental concerns, and product quality.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues on and off the plant site regarding operating efficiency, asphalt order quantities, technical, and mechanical issues.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control department to ensure high-quality production of asphalt products.
  • Conduct daily site inspections, identifying and addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Monitor outgoing trucks and asphalt production metrics.
  • Maintain accurate records and plant reports detailing aggregate and AC usage.
  • Clean the plant when asphalt production targets are met.
  • Order asphalt oil, burner fuel, and aggregates as required.

Requirements:

  • Class 5 Driver's License is mandatory.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Training in Confined Space Entry/Monitor, Aerial Lift, and Fall Arrest is a plus.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in asphalt equipment operation, repair, and maintenance is essential.
  • Experience within a road construction company is an asset.
