Estimated Salary Range: $30.21 - $38.46/hour CAD

Job Description:

A Lighting Artist at Sony Pictures Imageworks is responsible for designing and implementing lighting solutions for characters and environments in assigned shots. With a keen eye for detail, you will ensure that your work meets and exceeds the art direction for the production. Proficiency in compositing software, such as Nuke, is essential, while knowledge of Katana, Maya, Linux, UNIX, and scripting languages like MEL, Perl, and Python is highly desirable.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement lighting solutions for characters and environments in assigned shots
  • Ensure that your work meets and exceeds the art direction for the production
  • Collaborate with supervisors and peers to exchange information relevant to the show or sequences
  • Develop solutions and techniques that meet art/technical direction
  • Accountable for meeting efficiency and quota targets

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Fine Arts, Computer Science, or related field (2-year diploma or 1-year certificate)
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in lighting and compositing
  • Knowledge of Katana, Maya, Linux, UNIX, and scripting languages like MEL, Perl, and Python
  • Familiarity with Renderman shading, volume rendering, and raytracing
  • Proficiency in Nuke and other compositing software
