About the Job

This full-time, non-faculty position requires a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will have experience with laboratory maintenance, setup, and organization, as well as excellent administrative and organizational skills.

Reporting to the Chair of Natural Science, the Laboratory Manager will be responsible for maintaining and organizing several undergraduate biology and chemistry teaching labs and storage rooms, assisting faculty with lab experiments, and ensuring proper storage and handling of hazardous substances.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and organize several undergraduate biology and chemistry teaching labs and storage rooms.
  • Assist faculty with setup and cleanup of student laboratory experiments in biology and chemistry.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of hazardous substances, and maintain lab safety equipment.
  • Perform duties of lab safety and chemical hygiene officer, including maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs).
  • Order supplies and equipment for the department in accordance with college purchasing procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with laboratory maintenance, setup, and organization.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Enthusiastic commitment to the Richard Bland College mission, vision, and strategic plan.
Estimated Salary Range

$45,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.
