Contract Management Specialist for Defence Procurement

At Irving Shipbuilding, we're making history with the construction of modern patrol ships and destroyers for the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard. As a Contract Management Specialist for Defence Procurement, you will play a key role in supporting this historic project.
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Contract Management Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be accountable for supporting key aspects of the procurement lifecycle, with specific focus on the modernization of facilities required for the future production of the River Class Destroyer program. You will work closely and collaboratively with the Infrastructure Project Team to identify commercial / contractual approaches to achieve project objectives and develop and execute contracting plans.
Key Responsibilities- Project Procurement / Contracting activities including:
- Development and implementation of infrastructure engineering and construction sourcing strategies for complex project scopes.
- Analysis of market/supply conditions (e.g. availability, pricing, lead-times and capacity).
- Identifying commercial / contractual approaches to achieve project objectives and development and execution of contracting plan.
- Support development of Procurement / Contracting plan.
- Pre-contract award activities including:
- Development and recommendation of contracting strategies.
- Supplier sourcing and qualification activities.
- Competitive proposal process - RFX.
- Proposal evaluations / supplier selection.
- Post-contract award contract management including:
- Execution of Procurement / Contracting plan.
- C coordinate with the suppliers and sub-contractors the clarification sessions and kick-off meetings.
- Lead procurement activities, negotiations and contract administration.
- Supplier Performance management including supplier progress, quality, cost and delivery.
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline (e.g. Business, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering) or equivalent years of professional experience.
- Professional knowledge of complex contracting, preferably construction or manufacturing environments.
- Supply Chain accreditation would be considered an asset: e.g. SCMP, MCIPS or ISM.
- 5+ years in Supply Chain/ Contract Management.
