Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Manager to join our team at Seaboard Transport Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for the purchasing process and policies, as well as the actual purchasing or providing guidance to those making purchases to ensure appropriate approval, quoting, and policy is followed.
Key Responsibilities- External Suppliers:
- Identify potential suppliers, screen them, and negotiate favorable payment terms with selected suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure contractual obligations are met and to help make the supply procurement process as cost-effective and efficient as possible.
- Internal Suppliers:
- Work with managers, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting, IT, fleet/garages, and executives within the company to engage in procurement projects.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure essential supplies are being procured.
- Monitor changes in the industry and develop forecasts to determine appropriate budgets.
- Negotiate contracts, policies, and deadlines with suppliers and vendors.
- Monitor prices by product and vendor to predict and account for financial fluctuations.
- Manage the flow of goods, services, and supplies for optimum production, analyzing and adapting internal policies.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and maintain documentation of the acquisition of goods.
- Run reports using the BI tool database to facilitate reports for fleet maintenance expense trends.
- Manage other group purchasers for timely arrival of goods and services while monitoring adherence to purchasing policies.
- Analyze costs and determine effective cost reduction strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, finance, logistics, engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Negotiation skills (negotiating contracts, payment terms, and deadlines with suppliers and vendors).
- Analytical skills (analyze costs, forecast budgets, and develop cost-reduction strategies).
- Communication and interpersonal skills (required at all levels of the business, including executives, managers, and other internal stakeholders).
- Attention to detail.
