About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Virtual Psychiatry Unit team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide and coordinate the delivery of psychiatric nursing care services to patients, promoting person-centered and recovery-oriented care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Nursing Care and Assessment: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients, identifying actual or potential problems and strengths through nursing diagnosis, planning interventions, and evaluating outcomes.
  2. Therapeutic Program Participation: Actively participate in and support the total therapeutic program of the unit, collaborating with members of the healthcare team to promote patient-centered care.
  3. Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members, setting priorities, assigning, and delegating tasks to support staff, and participating in interprofessional conferences.
  4. Advocacy and Education: Act as an advocate to protect and promote patients' rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information, educating patients and families/caregivers about essential topics related to their healthcare and well-being.
  5. Quality Improvement and Research: Participate in quality improvement activities and research by identifying patient care issues and collecting data, contributing to the evaluation of patient care programs, techniques, standards, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • One year recent related experience in inpatient mental health services, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current Class 5 Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
